<Story>
Jonas was impressed with his friend Benjamin, who spent
almost all volunteer hours at the Rehabilitation Center. Now he became very
skillful and experienced,
so no one doubt his Assignment would be Rehabilitation Center work.There is little time left
till “the Ceremony of Twelve”, and the volunteer hours seemed
to be not that affect with Eleven’s Assignment. Jonas decided to spend his
volunteer hours at “House of the Old” where Asher and Fiona work at that day. He
helped the Old Larissa’s bathing. During the relaxed comfortable slow-pace chatting,
Larissa told Jonas about the cerebration of releasing which has held in that
morning. Jonas had question where did they go after releasing, but even the Old
Larissa doesn’t know the answer.

<Impressions>
Jonas looks very relaxing in this chapter, and I also
relaxedJ However, I am not
clear why Jonas went to the House of the Old. Is that because he was encouraged
by Benjamin? This chapter is still telling some special regulation in the
community, such as no bragging and no looking naked body except newchild and
the Old. I understood the community set each policy for avoiding makes citizens
unsettled. Even the meaning of “releasing”, citizens are not known, but it sounds
“death” for me.
In addition to the story, I enjoyed reading this chapter
because of the vivid of description (writing). I could
picture the scene at the House of the Old. Hmmmm~ “covered
with thick carpeting”, “warm moist air with scent of cleansing
lotion”, and “the woman’s face as she
lay in the water unprotected, exposed, and free”….
