Chapter11

<Story>

The Old man who is called “The Giver” gave the first training to Jonas. By touching Jonas’ back, he transmitted several memories into Jonas’ body. Jonas received the memory of  Snow, Sled, Hill, Sunshine, and sunburn. He understood what they are with the imaginary experience. From the lesson, Jonas heard about “Climate Control” and “Sameness”. People seemed to control the climate not to exist for the practical purpose.  It was interesting experience rather than Jonas expected. For this process, The Giver seems to lose his weight, and be exhausted. However their training needs to be just in this way. The previous Receiver couldn’t endure the training because it might be started with very negative memories in the world. In Jonas’ case, it was successfully started with enjoyable memories by The Giver.

<Impressions>
Jonas’ fear was taken away by joyful experience. However, now I knew that they controlled the climate. That’s sad news for me, and I understood the real face of this community. It’s completely simplified society which resolved all obstructive elements. Oh my God, Chapter11 made my view to the community changed 180degree……If I was a citizen in the community, I am willing to be released!!!!However, that’s because I know what Snow, sled, hill, and sunshine are. Pity Jonas, he is going to know more wonderful memories and need to look back to his own society…. That’s hard work. However, of course the world has good and bad sides. Well…..The Giver mentioned this job is about “It’s the memories of the whole world.” I am not sure if it is including the history of the human. Ok, now I will keep pay attention what the memories of the whole world is….

  1. yeah... Poor Jonas.. it would be the hardest thing that he can not share his experience and thought through this training. Whether it is good or bad, if he could share them at least, it would be much more helpful for him to get over.
